<h1>Gladys Monahan</h1> 1924 - 2009 Passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the age of 85. Gladys is survived by her son George Monahan of Bright, daughter Marlene and her husband Ryan Kramer of Grimsby, grandchildren, Shawn and his wife Kelly Monahan, Kerry Monahan, and Andrew, Jennifer and Laura Kramer. She will also be remembered by her sister Bernice Spearn. Gladys was predecased by her beloved husband Harold in 1998. Gladys was born in Elmvale ON in 1924. Her family moved to Timmins at the age of 3. Gladys was very proud of her Northern Heritage. During her time there, she was an accomplished figure skater, Girl Guide leader and enjoyed many other sports including skiing, badminton and tennis. Together with her husband Harold, they settled in Kitchener in 1964. For many years Gladys was employed at the University of Waterloo at both Conrad Grebel College and the Kinesiology Department. She was a member of the U of W Faculty Retirees Association, the Granite Club, Probus Club, Heritage Greens Lawn Bowling Club, Beaverdale and Maryhill Golf Clubs and St. James-Rosemount United Church. Gladys enjoyed travelling seeing many parts of the world including Mainland China, Africa, the Middle-East, Egypt and Europe. Friends are invited to share their memories of Gladys with her family during visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 2-4 &amp; 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. James-Rosemount United Church, 171 Sherwood Ave., Kitchener on Tuesday, December 22 at 1:00 pm. Cremation will follow and interment at Woodland Cemetery will take place at a later date.
