Buhr, Pauline (nee Sawatzky), greatly loved wife of Martin died peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2007 with her family encircling her bed at the Henderson Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario from acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Pauline was born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on April 1, 1939 to the Rev. Victor and Ruth Sawatzky. Mother of Laurie (Mark Hildebrand), Patrick, and Lisa (Ross Hergott). Loving grandmother of Jacob and Hannah Hildebrand; Will, Leah and Thomas Hergott. They were her five prides and joys! Survived by her mother Ruth Sawatzky, North Newton, Kansas; sisters Eleanor (Paul Wiebe), Phyllis (Ron Friesen) and brothers Sheldon (Marietta) and Timothy (Lela Mae).
Also survived by her brothers-in-law Jacob, John (Frieda), Tony (Helen), and Albert (Kathy); sisters-in-law Helen Gibbons, Greta (Jake Penner), and Mary (Don Nightingale). Predeceased by her father.
Pauline was devoted to her family, friends and her church. After being church secretary for eight years, she assisted her husband at the House of Friendship and MennoHomes Inc. In retirement Pauline and her husband enjoyed three voluntary service assignments under an MCC program for senior volunteers. With her husband she was honoured by the Catholic Family Counselling Centre with their Founding Fathers Humanitarian Award and by the Waterloo Region Housing Coalition as Outstanding Housing Creator.
At Paulines request, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share their memories of Pauline with her family during visitation on Friday, January 11 from 2 to 4p.m. and from 7 to 9p.m in the fellowship hall of the Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, Kitchener. A memorial service to celebrate Paulines life and faith will be held in the church on Saturday, January 12 at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon in the church's fellowship hall with a time for sharing your memories of Pauline.

In living memory of Pauline, a tree will be planted through the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
