At K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Saturday December 15, 2007 in her 88th year.
Beloved wife of Bernie Campbell of 63 years.
Loving Mother of Jennifer (the late Ron) Jackson, Vivien (Patrick) Hannon, Peter (Ellen) Campbell.
Grandmother of Kip (Sabine), Timothy (Janet), Tara, Michael, Alison, Susan, and Robert.
Great-grandmother of Trevor, Severine, James, and Delia.
Elsie will also be sadly missed by her brother Les.
Predeceased by her parents Janet and Robert Lampkin, brothers Eric, Harry and Ron, and by her sisters Jen, Lil, and Doris.
Born in Liverpool England, Elsie served in the RAF during WW2 and immigrated to Canada as a 'War Bride' in 1946, living in Drummondville PQ, Arnprior ON and Waterloo ON. She enjoyed numerous visits with her family in England through the years.
Elsie's engaging personality and natural love for people was evident throughout her career. She was elected to Arnprior Town Council and contributed feature articles, photography and general reporting for the local newspaper. Serving as Executive Director of the K-W Regional Multicultural Centre, she coordinated annual festivals and the grand opening of the Centre in the Square. She was proud of having implemented a geared-to-income housing project. With the Kitchener YMCA she contributed to building awareness of CIDA's support to developing countries.
In her retirement years, Elsie earned her Bachelor of Arts (Sociology, English) from the University of Waterloo.
During her period of increasing impairment Elsie's bright, outgoing personality remained unchanged, retaining an unusual ability to captivate everyone she met.
The service of remembrance to celebrate Elsies life will be held in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Wednesday December 19, 2007 at 11 am, with Rev. John Anderson officiating. Cremation has taken place.
A reception will immediately follow in the Historic Kuntz House of the funeral home.
