Obituary of Carol Trussler

Carol Trussler
(nee: Glynn) 1938 – 2007 Born in Windsor ON, May 26, 1938, Carol passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Richard (Dick) for 46 wonderful years. Our wedding rings are inscribed “Only Forever” and one of our favorite songs is “We’ll Meet Again”. Carol’s daughter, Thea Louise Trussler of Nelson BC arrived at 1 a.m. on Air Canada Friday morning and will help Dad bid Mom farewell. Carol started out her career as an X-Ray Technician and Radiation Therapist in Sudbury. She and Dick were married in February 1961 and she became so involved in community work that there was no time for the X-Ray Stuff. Carol organized youth dances and fashion shows, religious instruction classes and was a member of the CWL in Grimsby ON. When she and Dick moved to Kitchener in 1969, she went to city council and obtained stop lights at Fischer-Hallman and McGarry Drive which saved countless accidents and lives. She also established Neighborhood Watch in the Forest Hill - Forest Heights areas. Carol also drove for ‘Caring’ taking people for doctors appointments etc. Since she wasn’t “handicapped” with a job, she was able to be a chaperone on most school bus tours. Carol was nominated by the police for the “Unsung Hero” awards in January 2002. She was experiencing some serious health problems by this time and unfortunately had to withdraw her voluntary services. Friends are invited to share their memories of Carol with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Sunday, December 16, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 8:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis RC Church, 49 Blueridge Drive, Kitchener on Monday, December 17 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Frank Ruetz CR as Celebrant. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date in the family plot in Conestoga. In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to the Canadian Cancer Society which helped Carol on her journey to heaven or to a charity of one’s choice may be arranged through the funeral home, 519.745.8445 or www.erbgood.com. In living memory of Carol, a tree will be planted through the Trees for Learning program by the funeral home.
