<h1>Bessie Horne</h1> 1911 – 2008 After a wonderful life, the former Bessie Snyder has died at the age of 97 at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Bessie was born in Bloomingdale on May 13, 1911, daughter of Abram U. and Lizzie Snyder. She was the last surviving member of a family of four: Mary Hagey, Mabel Snyder and Jean Lorentz. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Geoff in 2005. Bessie was a primary teacher for the Waterloo Region District School Board for 37 years and in 1966 was awarded the Weig and Memorial Foundation award for excellence in teaching. She was a faithful member of Bloomingdale United Church. She is survived by two sons Jon (Sharon) and Jay; two grandsons Jeffrey and Michael, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Bessie’s family will receive their friends at Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday, August 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to honour Bessie’s life and faith will be held at Bloomingdale United Church on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. Interment at Bloomingdale Mennonite Cemetery. Reception to follow at the church.
