Obituary of Florence Galland

Florence Galland
December 21, 1927 – August 3, 2009 It is with much sadness that the family of Florence Galland announces her passing on Monday, August 3, 2009. Survived by her husband Heinz Galland; three children, Jean (John) Weber, Dennis (Linda) Schultz, and Linda Niergarth; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, the “sunshine in her life”. A special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Survived by one sister, Leona Schroeder. Florence was predeceased by her parents, William and Erna Thom; brothers, Victor, Harold and Emerson Thom; sisters, Viola Schroeder and Maureen Weckworth; and son-in-law, Grant Niergarth. Florence was an incredible lady. Mom’s family was her life. She was constantly giving of herself, regardless of the circumstances. She never knew the word “no” and always saw the best in everyone. Her kind and giving heart supplied all with her many crocheting talents. When times were tough, mom would recite to us “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24) To honour Florence’s life, a memorial service will be held at Emmanuel United Church, 22 Bridgeport Rd. W., Waterloo on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Sweet officiating. Interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau. A reception will follow the interment at the church. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of K-W by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. In living memory of Florence, the funeral home will make a donation to the Trees for Learning Program.
