<h1>John McLean</h1> John David Nairne McLean 1968-2009 Passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the age of 41. John was a free spirit with compassion, kindness and understanding of others. He was a gentle soul who frequently lent a helpful hand to neighbours, friends, and family –young and old. John attended St. John’s Kilmarnock school in Waterloo. He graduated with a B.A in Economics from the University of Guelph and B.S.C. of Environmental Science from the University of Waterloo, and completed courses in The Masters Program of Landscape Architecture at University of Guelph. He enjoyed a variety of careers in his young life, including landscaping, forestry, and operation of heavy machinery. John was happiest when outdoors. He grew up enjoying summers on Lake Huron. As a teenager he participated in and was inspired by the Junior Forest Ranger Program. He loved fishing, canoeing, camping, snowmobiling. His passion for skiing inspired him to volunteer with KidsAbility and Track III. John battled issues that led to depression. Ultimately these challenges were insurmountable- he has found his peace. Dearly missed by his mother Emily Ann Nairne McLean (nee Rokeby-Thomas), pre-deceased by his father Dr. James William McLean; loving brother of Heather Goodall (Geoff), James McLean (Gwen), and Jennifer McLean (Paul Norman); adored by his nieces and nephews, Siobhan, Torie, Natalie, Calvin, Eric and Emilia; fondly remembered by his Godparents John and Shirley McLean (Burnaby BC) and all of his extended family. Above all others he says good-bye to the greatest joy of his life, his daughter- Grace. Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family during visitation at St Johns the Evangelist Anglican Church, 23 Water St., Kitchener, on Wednesday September 2nd 2009, 10-11a.m. preceding the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at St Johns the Evangelist Anglican Church at 11 am on Wednesday September 2nd, 2009. A Mass will be said in Kilkenny, Ireland for John on Wednesday September 2nd.
