<h1>William Vetter</h1> William Donald Vetter B Sc P Eng April 28, 1921 – August 28, 2009 Passed away peacefully at Columbia Forest Residence surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Helen Bernice Vetter (nee Clarkson) of 66 years. Beloved father of Cathay Marie Weston (John Davidson), Dawn Vetter, Susan Connolly (Tom), and close family friend Charlotte Roy. Blessed with 5 grandchildren, Erin Rothfischer (Tom), Greg Weston (Michelle), Mark Weston, Kate Connolly and Shannon Connolly and 4 great grandchildren, Lauren, Julia and Paul Rothfischer, and Jacob Connolly. Predeceased by his parents Norman (1972) and Ina (1977) Vetter (nee Schweitzer). Don was raised in the Kitchener Waterloo area. He served as an officer in World War II in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. He graduated from Queens University in 1948 with a degree in Engineering Physics. Throughout Don’s career as a professional engineer, he and his family lived in several cities in South Western Ontario, in Western Canada, in France and in Turkey. He returned to Waterloo in 1983 where he served his community on the Waterloo Senior Advisory Council and the Waterloo Laurel Kiwanis Club. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Huth, nurses and staff at Columbia Forest for their compassionate attention to Don’s care. Friends are invited to share their memories of Don with his family during visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 1to 2 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Don’s life will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Pastor Paul McIlwraith officiating.
