<h1>Raymond Wieser</h1> P. Eng (Ret.) 1934 – 2009 Passed away peacefully at the KW Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Monday, August 24, 2009. He is survived by his wife Joan Wieser (nee Waites); son John (Charlene) of Markham, daughters Lesley Connelly (Paul), also of Markham and Carolyn Crechiolo (Carl) of Ancaster; his grandchildren, Michelle and Matthew Wieser and Nicole and Ryan Crechiolo. Ray was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the son of Sigmund and Minnie Wieser, both deceased. He is also predeceased by his sister Irene Kalthoff and his first wife Dorothy Wieser (Kirby) (1988). Ray graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1957.He was employed in various capacities by Shell Canada in Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto. He joined the University of Waterloo in 1966 as a Co-operative Education Mathematics Coordinator. In 1971 he was named as Director of Coordination and Placement. Ray was a founding member of the Canadian Assoc. for Cooperative Education, and was elected President and ultimately chosen to receive the Albert Sherwood Barber Award for the advancement of philosophy of post secondary Co-operative Education in Canada. He assisted in the planning for and was a speaker for the first World Conference on Cooperative Education in London, England in 1979. In 1983 Ray was awarded an honorary member and prestigious Dean Herman Schneider Award by the Cooperative Education Association, the only non-American to ever receive this recognition. In his retirement, Ray enjoyed winters in Florida, gardening, woodworking and oil and water colour painting. He was a lifelong and sometimes suffering supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders team of the Canadian Football League. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share their memories of Ray with his family during visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Saturday, August 29 from 1-2 pm. The service to celebrate Ray’s life among us will follow in the chapel of the Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Following a private Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo, everyone is invited to a reception at Wildcraft Grill, 425 King Street North, Waterloo from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. to share stories and meet with the family.
