Obituary of Frances Karges

Frances Karges
Frances died at her home in Waterloo on August 22, 2010. She was 85. Frances was a loving mother of Sister Anne Karges of Kitchener, Rosemary Karges (Ted Tkachuk) of Edmonton, Harry (Donna Romita) of Guelph, Thomas (Jane Burger) of Kitchener, Eleanor Fields (Kenneth) of Kitchener and Matthew of Cold Lake. She will be fondly remembered by her nine grandsons and four great-grandchildren; sister Agnes Tettambel of St. Louis, Missouri; brother James Olinski (Doreen) of Bowmanville and sisters-in-law Patricia Olinski and Jean Olinski of Kitchener. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry; brothers Jerry and John Olinski; sister, Pauline Neu and parents Anne (Foran) and Philip Olinski. Frances was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish and the Catholic Women’s League for 60 years. She enjoyed her many friendships with the ladies Solo Club, the Lourdes Senior Club, the Waterloo Knights Retirees, the Sisters of St. Joseph, the folks at GRH Dialysis Unit, and the Dawson-Dietz neighbours. Frances will be remembered for her positive, cheerful and faith-filled disposition, attending daily Mass while she was able. Her family was most important to her and she loved to have everyone at home for meals and celebrations. Her house and heart always had an open door. She will be remembered and cherished for her love of garden and flowers, her quilts and baby blankets, her embroidery work, home-made Christmas stockings and decorations, and for her words of wisdom. She loved to travel and took advantage of opportunities to “get out” and “go for a drive”, “a ride on the Harley” or “go for tea”. She set an example for all of us by her love of life, her faith life, and family life. Friends are invited to share their memories of Frances with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with Parish Prayers at 8:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Frances’s life and faith will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St., Waterloo on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev.
