Obituary of Esther Bobbie

Esther Bobbie
(nee Waldon) It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Esther Bobbie on August 20, 2009 in Toronto. Born on August 11, 1917, Esther was the younger daughter of the late John Ivar Waldon and Hilma Waldon (nee Asp). She was raised in Timmins, Ontario, where she met her first husband, Garth Teeple. Married in 1941, they had three children who survive her. The family moved to Toronto in 1956. She was widowed in 1965, and predeceased by her sister Bertha Thatcher (Ralph Thatcher). In 1970, she married Dr. Harry Bobbie and moved to Waterloo, Ontario, where they lived happily for 39 years before moving to Toronto in their last year. Sadly, Harry passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital on August 13, 2009. She enjoyed the company of her blended family and numerous mutual friends from a long life. She was dearly loved by her children, Myrna Wesley (Joel), Gary Teeple, Karen Teeple; and her grandchildren, Paul Wesley, Drew Wesley, Anna Teeple, Carmen Teeple Hopkins, Morgan Teeple Hopkins, Emma Crompton, and great grandchild Alexandra Swanston Wesley; and Harry’s children Ron (Joanne) and Brian (Janice) Bobbie, and grandchildren Craig, Russell, Michael, and Grant. In both marriages, Esther traveled more than most, seeing many parts of Britain, Europe, Africa, Mexico, and the Carribean. She was an avid reader all her life, always interested in current events, and a member of Kitchener/Waterloo garden club. During her early years in Timmins, she played an active part in the Finnish community. The family would like to thank the staff at the Palliative Care unit at St. Michael’s Hospital, and the staff at Leaside Retirement Residences where she and Harry lived for the past year. A reception to remember Esther (and Harry), following the private family interment at 11:30, will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009, from 12 to 2:00 o’clock, at the York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, North York, (412-221-6739). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Michael’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 30 Bond St., Toronto, M5B 1W8.
