Obituary of WallacePaul Wallace

Dr. Paul Wallace
1946-2010 We deeply mourn the passing of Dr. John Stuart Paul Wallace (known as Paul to friends and family) D.D.S. on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Paul’s family brought him great joy. On September 1, 1970 Paul married Mary Frances Walter and together they raised their two much loved sons David and Michael. Their family grew with the addition of Dave’s wife Amy and Mike’s wife Martha. Their greatest treasures were their two grandchildren Lily and Ashton who loved their Papa very much. Paul was born in Galt on June 17, 1946 to Jack and Josephine Wallace who predeceased him. He will be remembered by his sister, Shirley and her husband Bob Addy; his sister-in-law Sue and her husband Norm Murray; his mother-in-law Marie Walter whom he loved to tease. He was Uncle Paul to nine nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his many friends, golfing buddies and patients. Paul graduated from the University of Western Ontario Dental School in 1972. Setting up his dental practice in Kitchener was a dream realized for him. He enjoyed his work immensely for 38 years. His main goal was to look after the well-being of his patients. Paul loved sports, both participating and as a spectator. Golf with the guys, tennis, hockey, skiing, snowboarding, sailing, football, baseball, basketball – he enjoyed them all. His favourite leisure hours were spent at “the cottage” in Amberley, Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron with family and the large group of cottage friends who became known as our “Cottage Family”. No task seemed to daunt him. One of his favourite mottos was, “Why pay someone else to do it when you can do it yourself?” Shingling a roof, installing an appliance, fixing up an electrical glitch or plumbing problem, building a waterfall were all easily mastered by Paul. He approached his retirement with mixed feelings. He loved his chosen profession but wanted a rest. He and Mary Fran had travel plans, talked of new adventures and more time together, but it was sadly not to be. We will miss you Paul, Dad, Papa, Friend. You will be forever in our minds and close to our hearts. Be at peace. We will love you forever. Friends are invited to share their memories of Paul with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, August 19, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, 74 Frederick St., Kitchener on Friday, August 20, at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at the church.
