Obituary of Jennifer Fischer

Jennifer Fischer

1961 2007
Peacefully at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on August 12, 2007, family and friends constantly at her side. Jen walked through the door to the next place after a 30 month journey through illness where she constantly displayed amazing strength and courage.
Beloved wife of Joel. Loving mother of Mackenzie and Kaeden.
Dear daughter of Lois Bell of Leamington; predeceased by her father Ken Bell (April 2006).
Survived by sisters Debbie (John) of Kemah, Texas, Suzanne (Carl) of Thamesville, Lorie (Randy) of Warsaw, ON., and brother David (Tine) of Winnipeg.
Will also be missed by in-laws Margaret and Paul Fischer of Waterloo, as well as brother and sister in-laws Steve Fischer (Barb) of Ottawa, Rachel Wiseman (Steve) of Kitchener and Andrew Fischer (Theresa) of Waterloo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jen will be remembered for the nurturing love for her children. She loved flowers and gardening and had admirable skill at interior decorating. She will also be remembered for being her own advocate throughout her illness and encouraging others to do the same. Jen researched her illness and treatments as thoroughly and capably as anyone could. So many people along the way told Jen and myself that she was an inspiration to them in so many ways. Jen also maintained her sense of humour till the very end.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Reception will immediately follow at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place.
Jen was much loved so we need to thank many people: Dr. Mala Bahl and Susan Steckley for their skilled and compassionate care along the way, Dr. Ward and Dr. Kontakos, the wonderful chemo suite nurses, Barby Butts and Dianne Osborne from Paramed, the C.C.A.C., Anita and Brenda and the rest of the superb 8th floor nurses, Provis Infusion Clinic in Toronto, Roswell Cancer Centre in Buffalo, Shoppers Drug Mart Forrest Glen Plaza, APOS Systems Inc., Curves, Waterloo Mennonite Brethren Church, Fiddleheads and all the energetic volunteers throughout Grand River Hospital. We also again want to thank all our good friends and family who tirelessly and consistently supported us in so many ways during this time.
