<h1>Greta Stollery</h1> Cowan) 1914 - 2007 In her 93rd year, on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007, peacefully at home, Greta entered the presence of her Lord. Beloved wife of the late Richard (Dick) Stollery. Predeceased by her dear son Ken. Loving mother- in-law of Mary Stollery. Devoted grandmother to Annie and Clare Stollery. Dear sister of Rev. Canon Kenneth Cowan (Dorothy) of Ottawa and Roy Cowan of Ottawa; Sister in law to Bill Stollery (Rhyl) and Shirley Stollery and her recently deceased husband Bob, all of Edmonton. Predeceased by her sisters Dorothy and Verna (as a child); sister-in-law Win Souther of Toronto and brothers-in-law Bert (Mar), Charles (Kay) and Ernie(killed in action WW2), all of Edmonton.Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. Born in Hawarden, Saskatchewan, Greta grew up in Ottawa, Ontario. At age 17 she met a group of people known as the Oxford Group, later Moral Re-Armament (MRA). She committed her life to Christ and devoted the next years of her life to travelling throughout North America and Europe as a member of a travelling revue whose aim was to take the good news of the Gospel into locations ranging from the coalmines of Nova Scotia to kitchens in Paris, France and London, England, where the transformation it brought in people’s lives led to constructive change in difficult situations. After 30 years with MRA, she and Dick settled down in Los Angeles where she worked as a secretary at Loyola Marymount University. In 1976 they retired to an orchard farm in Vernon, BC, where she was involved with the Anglican Church, the symphony and together with Dick took part in Amnesty International and ran International Affairs conferences. She lived in Waterloo for the last 15 years of her life, where she enjoyed watching her granddaughters grow and being involved in their lives. She made many new friends and kept in touch with old friends, faithfully phoning those she could no longer see in person. The family is very grateful to the Community Care Access Centre and their personal support workers, especially Stephanie, and all of the nurses from Care Partners who gave such excellent support during Greta's last weeks. Friends are invited to share their memories of Greta with her family at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home 171 King Street South in Waterloo on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service to celebrate Greta’s life will be held at the Church of the Holy Saviour on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 3 pm with The Venerable Peter T. Townshend and Rev. Canon Kenneth Cowan officiating. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family in the Church Fellowship Hall for refreshments and a time to visit. A Family Committal has taken place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
