Passed away at St. Marys General Hospital, Kitchener, on Monday April 6, 2009, at the age of 47 years.
Longing his embrace is his wife Zelia and the three greatest treasures in his life, his children, Jakob 6, Markus 5 and Matthew 2; parents James and Audrey Bester; sisters Karen Reynolds (Don) and Kathryn Bishop (Joe); Zelias parents William and Zelia Furtado, grandmother Maria Jorgeana Melo; brother-in law Willie Furtado; niece Hilary and nephews Jeff (Katie), Jamie, Trevor and Adam. Greatly missed by his best friends Dennis and Ruth Schmidt, Chris and Karen Thielman and Rod and Wendy Schickler. Godfather to Ashley and Richard.
Steve always enjoyed his hockey and the fellowship of his friends in the Friday night hockey league as well as part of the Alumni Friendship Hockey with Kitchener, Pennsylvania, USA. In his faith he is sure to be playing defence once again in a hockey league higher then any can imagine.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Steve with his family during a visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday, April 9, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 825 King Street West, Kitchener, on Friday, April 10 at 2 p.m. A reception to share stories amongst family and friends will follow in the church hall directly after the service.
