Obituary of Peter Millar

Peter Millar

1939-2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter on April 5, 2009. A great man in his 69th year lost all too soon.
Peter will be sorely missed by his whole family including the light and love of his life, Louise. Peter was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey, with whom he is now reunited. Deeply loved and missed by his son Jon Millar (Patricia) and Louises children Stephen Vanderkolff (Darlene), Heidi Vanderkolff and Jon Vanderkolff (Michelle). Peter also leaves behind his sister Jill Thomson, his brothers-in-law, Kurt (Sue) and John (Frieda) Neufeld and sister-in-law Elly York. Peter's cherished grandchildren, nephews, nieces and an extensive network of family and friends will truly miss him.
Peter was a true man of honour. A loving husband, father and grandfather.
Through his 35 years as an educator, he shaped and moulded many young and old minds alike. Peter joyfully rounded out his formal career at Junior Achievement. As the sun set on those 35 years, a new dawn of life had opened up for Peter at Brandy Lake. Time spent at the cottage was Peters solace. Between stays at the cottage with his dog Dusty, Peter spread his time out effectively by tirelessly volunteering his time. Whether it was emceeing at an Oktoberfest Keg Tapping or canvassing for Heart and Stroke, Peter always gave it his all. Peter told a joke like no other and he always had a story to share, as long as it was not during the hockey or baseball game. Peters musical talents rivaled some of the best in the industry. However, what he loved most in the twilight of his life was to sing and dance with his granddaughter and the rest of his grandchildren. Peter had a profound effect on the lives of everybody he met. Like his son Jeffrey, Peter exemplified the true meaning of what is to be a Renaissance man.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Peter with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 7-9 pm and Friday, April 10 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at St. James-Rosemount United Church, 171 Sherwood Ave., Kitchener on Saturday, April 11 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. M.E. Wendy MacFadzean officiating.
