Passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 26th, 2007.
Beloved husband of Delphine for 54 years. Loving father of Bruce (Gail), Brenda Hancock (David), Ken (Doris), Bob (Carey), Marg Dennis (Gord). Much loved and sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jared, Kelly and Bradley Brown, Jaime Reynolds, Michael and Chris Gingrich, Julie Brown-Gallagher (Mathew), Chelsea and Lindsea Brown and Kevin Lasso (Jenn) and great grandchildren Kieran and Liam Lasso, Jaden Hounsell and Hannah Gallagher. Lovingly remembered by his sister Ila Hodgkins (Les) and sisters-in-law Donna Warren (Murray), Dorothy Boehmer, Nel Plomske, Rose Plomske, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Margaret, brothers Norman, Charlie and Fred and sisters Margaret, Edythe and Jean.
Dick retired from J.M. Schneiders in 1986. He was known for his passion for baking, catering, singing, playing cards, croquet and preparing income tax returns for family and friends.
For many years he was a permanent fixture at both Waterloo Arena and Waterloo Park as statistician for minor baseball. He entertained us with his humorous stories of his years as a wheelsman on the Great Lakes.
The family would like to thank the staff at Caressant Care Fergus Nursing Home for their wonderful care during the last six weeks.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, April 29, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m. The Memorial Service to celebrate Dicks life will take place at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 700 Glen Forrest Blvd, Waterloo, on Monday April 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. Reception at the church to follow. Cremation has taken place.
