1922 - 2008
It is with deep sorrow that his family announces his passing on April 13th 2008 at Grand River Hospital, age 86 years. Dearly beloved husband of June Mahala (nee Elcombe) for 59 years this June. Dear father of the late Pamela June Blakey (2006), Brenda Gayle Vujovic and her partner Al Chernenkoff and Gordon Clifford Waller and his girlfriend Judith Geher. Proud grandfather of Steven James Blakey, Mark Douglas Blakey and Andrew Clifford Blakey. Father-in-law of Douglas James Blakey, and brother-in-law of Ruth Ann and Ross Elcombe. Predeceased by his parents Jessie and Alfred Waller from England, his older brothers Ernest, Sydney and Ronald and his parents-in-law Jean and Sidney Elcombe.
Cliff was born in Toronto, a member of the Beaver Bible Class and a Boy Scout leader.
He enjoyed baseball, hockey, skiing, tennis, swimming, waterskiing and golf. In education he obtained a C.I.M. Canadian Industrial Manager. During the Second World War , he was an aircraft inspector, later a quality control supervisor and a plant manager.
In 1967 Cliff and June and family moved to Kitchener. Cliff entered real estate, obtained his F.R.I. (Fellow Real Estate Institute) and was a salesman, manager and real estate teacher at Conestoga College. He was a director on the K.W. Real Estate Board and served on the O.R.E.A. Ontario Real Estate Association. A member of the Highland Glen Camera Club and the Writers Guild.
After retirement in 1990 Cliff became a volunteer at these organizations Victoria School Centre Advisory Council Chairman and Convener, Mayors Advisory Council for Kitchener Seniors, Waterloo 55+ Advisory Board and Older Adult Centers Association of Ontario. He received certificates of appreciation for his volunteer work from the City of Kitchener and the Province of Ontario.
Cliff and June enjoyed traveling and went on many trips. Cliff presented slide shows of these trips at the Kitchener Public Library, Waterloo Adult Recreation Centre and retirement homes.
Due to a neurological condition he used a wheel chair the last 3 years of his life and he wrote poetry and memoirs. Cliff had a full life and a caring family.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Cliff at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo on Thursday April 17, 2008 from 1:00 pm to 1:45. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 pm, reception to follow.
