Obituary of Reina Martin

Reina (Rena) Martin
December 14, 1930 – April 10, 2009 Rena peacefully left us, after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer, to take the hand of her late beloved husband, Morris and join him in the arms of their Lord. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her children, Dennis, Sharon (son-in-law Mark), Tim (Tracy), Joanna, and Edward; her grandchildren: Corina, Alex, Hailey, Adrian, Shayne, Wayne, Kody, Kelly, Haven, and Royce; and her great-grandchildren, Malachai, Tavian, Liam and Kiera. She will be forever cherished by her surviving sister, Melinda Quesnel of Sturgeon Falls (where Rena spent her childhood) and was the greatly loved “Aunty Reina” to her dear niece, Lucy and her many other much-loved nieces and nephews. “Grams” will also be remembered lovingly by Trish Kufske and her family: Steve, Jacob, and Hannah. Rena’s spirit was unique – one of her most endearing qualities. That spirit allowed her to be comfortable while “being herself”, frequently stating, “I am who I am”. She never felt it necessary to seek approval from others. Rena’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ward and nurses (her “angels”) of 3 North Union Terrace Hospice Unit, Freeport Hospital for their dedication and kindness while caring for her. The family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, April 14 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment at Erb Street Mennonite Cemetery. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room. Any donations in Rena’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Endometrial Research or Grand River Hospital Foundation, Freeport Hospice Unit by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. Goodnight Mom – We love you too.
