Obituary of Fritz Behrendt

Passed away unexpectedly at Beechwood Manor in Waterloo on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the age of 86. Fritz is survived by two sisters, both of Germany. He will be greatly missed by his extended family here in Canada; Martha Wagner (Heinz), Kurt and Anne Wagner and their families. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Germany. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Maria "Mietze" (nee Kraatz) in 1985; one brother, one sister, and by his parents. Fritz was born near Potzdam, Germany on January 28, 1924 to the late Marie and August Behrendt. He and his wife, Maria came to Canada in 1953. Fritz was employed with Weston Bakery. He was also a faithful member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kitchener. Uncle Fritz enjoyed travelling, photography and family gatherings. Special thanks to the staff at Beechwood Manor for their loving care and to friend, Shelley. A memorial service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 47 Sheldon Ave. N., Kitchener on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Joe Das officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church one hour prior to the service. In keeping with Fritz's wishes cremation, has taken place and interment will be held in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo at a later date.
