Obituary of Ruth Ross

Mrs. Ruth Alice (Wendell) Ross-1914 - 2010 Mrs. Ruth Alice Ross, 96, ended her life's journey peacefully at K W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on November 18, 2010. She was born on a blustery day, November 9, 1914 in Galt, Ontario, the daughter of Louis and Elenora (Kreitzer) Wendell. She took her schooling in Galt after which she worked at Eaton's order office. Mrs. Ross was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and subsequently married there on March 2, 1936 to Ernest George Ross who was organist and choir director. Following a short sojourn in Toronto they returned to settle in Preston, later moving to just outside Doon on four beautiful acres. Upon retirement they moved to Kitchener. Ruth was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Preston, later at Knox United Church in Ayr and Grace Lutheran Church in Kitchener. At the time of her passing she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cambridge. Her family was a very important part of her life. She was a homemaker extraordinaire, a great cook and skilled seamstress. Ruth took a keen interest in her two daughters, supporting them in their endeavors. She loved reading, history, music and live theatre. She was an avid traveler with her husband and children. She visited every province and territory in Canada, toured England, Scotland, Spain, Iceland, the Caribbean and many American states including Alaska. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her husband (1980), her younger sister Marlea (Wendell) Parrott (1990) and three nephews. As she passed into our Lord's Promise she leaves a gap in the lives of her two daughters, Elaine Astrid Nye (George) and Jane Wendy Ross (Dan Kyba); two beloved grandsons, Ian Ross Nye and Keith McLane Nye and cherished nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. "She places her trust in her Saviour and she now rests peacefully in His Care."
