Obituary of Kenneth McLennan
Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital, on Friday, December31, 2010 at the age of 90 years.
He was the cherished husband of Grace Couture-McLennan and they leave a large extended family to mourn.
Ken was pre-deceased in 2001 by his wife of 53 years, Reta. They are survived by their sons Brian (Nancy) and Ross, 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
Ken was born near Thessalon, Ont. in Sept. 1920, one of four children of Tom and Renee McLennan. He was raised on their farm until he left for the Army at the outbreak of WW2, when he served with the Essex Scottish Regiment in Canada and Europe.
After the war he moved to Kitchener/Waterloo where he met and married Reta in 1948. He worked for Uniroyal for over 40 years.
Ken was an avid curler, lawn bowler, and card player, especially crib.
He belonged to many organizations including the Royal Canadian Legion for over 60 years, First United Church, Elmira Curling Club and the Granite Club. He was a volunteer driver for "Meals on Wheels" for 12 years.
Ken will always be remembered for his sharp wit, his jokes, and his down-to-earth personality. He was always the happiest when he was with his friends and family.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Ken with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, January 4, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Ken's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Burial at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo to follow.
