Obituary of Joan Chalmers

The family of Joan Chalmers sadly announces her passing after a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson's Disease on Thursday, January 13, 2011. Joan was a lifetime employee of Bell Canada where she worked as a telephone operator for 39 years until her retirement in 1984. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Annie Gertrude (Rittinger) Chalmers. She is survived by her loving sisters, Hazel Snider, Myrtle Koch and Doris Appel. Joan was like a mother to the daughters of Hazel Snider and will be dearly missed by Susan Heideman, Cynthia Fischer, Lisa Reger, and Jennifer Heisch. She is also fondly remembered by nieces Carol Elliot, Mary Forrest, Eleanor Appel and nephews Cameron Koch and Douglas Koch. Joan was a loving great-aunt to Julie, Jason, Mandy, Lauren, Shelby, Hayden, Liam, Matthew, Hudson, Cooper, and Ryder. The family wishes to thank the staff of Parkwood Mennonite Home for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will follow.
