Obituary of Elaine Briere

Passed away following a brief illness at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Sunday, January 16, 2011 in her 85th year. Betty is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Ray of 61 years, her loving children Betty Ann (Roger de Slegte) and Cindy (Shawn) Showkenik and her cherished granddaughter Natasha Harinko and her father Joe Harinko. Betty is also survived by her brother, Douglas (Ruth) Dunn and sisters-in-law Marg Dunn, Thelma Dunn and Freda Dunn as well as sisters and brothers in law, Lucille Derouin, Florence (Curly) Brunet, Gerry (Doris) Briere, Jerome Briere, Norine Briere and Albert Monpetit. She was predeceased by her brothers, Russell and Ralph Dunn and her twin brother William Dunn as well as her sister and brother in law Lillian (Edgar) Wilker. Betty will be remembered as "The Cake Lady" who designed numerous elaborate Wedding, Anniversary and Birthday cakes. She cherished her family and the many travels together from coast to coast and winters in Florida. Friends are invited to share their memories of Betty with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Becky Klages of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Cremation will take place with a private family interment at a later date.
