Gone but never forgotten. Dr. Nash was a mentor, a friend and an incredible humanist. During the 1980's he taught me the importance to seek the truth and explore this world with different lenses. He visited me in the hospital in 1987, and through his gentle demeanour brought me through a terrible time in my life. He was my mentor and advisor on my Thesis debating "The misconception that we need to change Geography to be a Science through specializations". I still have his writings and a special book he gave me and 35 years later I still read them with a tear in my eyes.
Thank you, Dr. Peter Nash, may you continue to study the world but now through a different set of lenses.
Jeffrey J. Thomson

Searching the Internet to find a way to contact the Nash family who I met in Athens, Greece in 1970, I fell upon the obituary of Dr. Peter Nash which revived all the memories of the wonderful moments I had with them, both in Athens and in Waterloo. Dear Carina and Rocky, although 7 years have elapsed since your unforgetable father's loss, you have my condolences, from the depth of my heart. Angela Merou

Ann and Peter's family, Peter was a bright light for me in our neighborhood for the last fifteen years. He was so engaged in the issues of the day that any encounter with him meant not only a lively discussion but also a realistic yet humorous lesson. I introduced him to the Internet many years ago and he was overwhelmed with the information--I can only imagine how the information we now access would have been used by someone of Peter's capacities. I want his grandchildren to know he impacted the world in ways only a handful of people ever will. He was a fabulous influence in many ways on many people. He will be missed terribly.

My condolences to Peter's family, relatives and friends. I hope good memories of a long and full life provide comfort at this time. I was in my second year as a faculty member when Peter arrived as the first Dean of Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo. The Faculty was in its formative years, and it was wonderful to have Peter, with all of his experience and insight, as Dean. In his retirement, Peter stayed in contact with the Faculty, and continued to be interested and supportive, as was so typical of him once he had made a commitment. A very special man, who will be missed by all. Bruce Mitchell

Dr. Nash was one of my favorite professors at Waterloo. I will never forget his classes in Future Studies and, my personal favorite, "The Nature of Geography". I took that class in 1981 and it changed my life. I still have the textbook. Dr. Nash was a great mentor for me and the first professor I met to give oral examinations for some of his classes. He had a wonderful long life and I'm sure he will be sadly missed by his family and friends, as well as by many former students.
