Obituary of Doris Copland

Doris passed away at St. Mary's General Hospital on Friday, January 21, 2011 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She is survived by her two sons whom she loved dearly, son Michael and his wife Brigid and their children Marc (Martha) and Rachel (Dominic) and son Peter and his wife Terry Marr and their daughter Claire; special brothers-in-law William (Buck) Uffelman and Richard (Dick) Meunier; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Doris is also survived by brother-in-law Douglas Copland and his wife Lois of Ottawa. Doris will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by special friends Jean Hill, Joan Heaton and Dr. John Rhodes. Doris was predeceased by her husband Robert; her parents Burton (Gamey) and Ida (Lautenschlager) Lederman; sisters Erla Uffelman and Joan Meunier; her brother Ross; and special niece Susan Schwalm. Friends and relatives are invited to share memories of Doris at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, January 26 from 7-9 p.m. The memorial service to celebrate Doris' life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow at Westmount Golf and Country Club. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, condolences and memorial donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or the Osteoporosis Society of Canada may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. Doris' family would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Mary Jackson for the kindness they showed Doris during her final days. A special thank you to Rev. Paul Ellingham for providing Doris with the courage she needed to take her final journey.
