Obituary of Elvera Thiessen

Elvera Thiessen passed away at Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre, Waterloo, on January 30th, 2011 at the age of 87. She was born on January 28th, 1924 in Ufa, Russia. Beloved wife of the late Gerhard Thiessen (2004). Survived by her children, Betty Dwyer of Kitchener, Bob Thiessen (Marilyn) of New Dundee, Carol Thiessen (Geoff Scotton) of Calgary and Ruth Thiessen (John Ladouceur) of Toronto. Loving Grandmother of Tina Meissner (Raik), Brook Thiessen (Joanna), Ian Thiessen, Kenzie and Davis Ladouceur. "GG" (Great-Grandmother) to Emily and Sam Meissner, Cedar and Aurora Thiessen. Also survived by her sister, Ruth Edwards and sisters-in-law, Mary Reimer, Elaine Reimer, Anneliese Reimer and Anni Saunders. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Sara Reimer; brothers, Waldemar Reimer, Victor Reimer and John Reimer; sisters, Mary Willms and Annie Poetker; brothers-in-law, Nelson Edwards, Henry Poetker, John Willms and Henry Bergen. At Elvera's request, cremation has taken place and a private family interment and committal service will be held. A luncheon gathering for family and friends will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 1 - 3 p.m. Sharing of memories will take place at 1:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
