Obituary of Clayton Bechtel
Entered into rest on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Mary's General Hospital in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Rosetta (nee Meirowski) for 60 years. Loving step-father of Ken and his wife Phyllis and their family. Sadly missed by brother Elmer and sisters Mable, Verna, Beatrice, Bernice and Florence, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents Eden and Marietta, siblings Willard, Vera and 2 in infancy.
In Clayton's early years he was employed by Dominion Tire at which time he and Rose purchased a 20 acre farm in Lisbon. When he retired from Dominion Tire they sold the 20 acre farm in Lisbon and purchased a 100 acre farm on R.R #1 St. Agatha where they lived and farmed until they purchased the home at 195 Erb St. West. After several years of living in Waterloo, they decided to move into Pinehaven Retirement Residence until his passing. Clayton served in the navy during WW11. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing cards, fishing and baseball.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Clayton with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.
