Obituary of Sima Zand

On February 22, 2011, Sima Zand passed away at her home in Waterloo, Ontario after a 4 year battle with cancer. Sima was born in Tehran, Iran in 1944 and graduated from the University of Tehran in 1958 with a BA in Journalism. She met her husband at the National Statistics Centre of Iran where she worked as a secretary. They were married in 1971. Three years later she gave birth to her son Marc and then her daughter Nicole. As a result of the Iranian Revolution Sima and her family left Tehran and moved to Canada in 1979. They settled in the Beechwood area of Waterloo. She initially worked as a makeup artist and later went on to work as a sales associate at Hatashita Jewelers. Sima was beloved by all, and will be deeply missed by her family and the community.
