Obituary of Lillian Aitken
Passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at age 89.
Beloved wife of the late William (2000); loved mother of Kathryn Edith Aitken of Montreal and Mary Joy Aitken of Kitchener; mother-in-law to Jim Mitchell, and loving grandmother of Emily and David Mitchell. She will be greatly missed by dear friend Ruth Lonergan of Las Vegas. Predeceased by her parents, John Walton Peart (1891 - 1979) and Edith Lillian White Peart (1892 - 1961). Special thanks to Lillian's friends and caregivers who supported her so lovingly during the last months of her life.
Lillian loved her family, friends, home, cottage, tennis, curling, garden and music. Born in London, Ontario on April 5, 1921, and raised in St. Thomas, Lillian was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario. An accomplished soprano, she sang for four years in the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, and later with the Parr Christie Singers in Kingston. While living in Waterloo for the last 35 years, she greatly enjoyed the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.
The funeral service to celebrate Lillian's life and faith will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo with Rev. Felicia Urbanski officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
