Obituary of Henry Hornberger
It is with deep sadness that the family of Henry Hornberger announces his passing on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the age of 86 years. His wife of 53 years, Maria, predeceased him in 2005.
We say goodbye to our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by his son Henry Hornberger (Caroline) of Utah, USA, and daughters Christa Hornberger (Peter Milley) of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Monika Robinson (Steve) of Kitchener; grandfather of Henry Hornberger and Philip Hornberger of Utah, Ralf Matthaes (Diep) and their children, Ritter and Marlene of Vietnam, Birgit Matthaes (partner Ron Gunning) of Toronto; and the extended Robinson family. He is also survived by his brother Dieter Hornberger (Rosi) and sister, Hiltrud Klinge (Gustel) both of Germany, as well as nieces and nephews in Germany.
Henry was a proud and founding member of the Kitchener Oktoberfest Lions Club of which he was treasurer for 25 years. He was a member of the Concordia Club of Kitchener for the past 49 years.
Honoring Henry's personal wishes cremation has taken place.
A visitation and tribute to Henry's life will be held in the Great Hall at Luther Village on the Park, 139-141 Father David Bauer Drive, Waterloo on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Visitation and visual presentation of Henry's life will take place at 2:00 pm followed by a commemorative service at 3:00 pm.
A private interment will be held at Williamsburg Cemetery, Kitchener.
