Obituary of John Hock

With sadness in our hearts and happiness for a wonderful life we announce the passing of John Hock. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph at the age of 91. John is the beloved husband of Ethel (Crispin) for more than 70 years. Cherished father of Paul (Patricia), James (Nancy), Mark (Kathy), David (Dulane) and Bonnie (Murray) Grose. Proud grandfather of Heather, Donna (Tim), Christopher, Jonathan, Alex, Jeremy, Devin, and Danielle. Loving Great Grandfather of Zoe, Deign, Quade, Roin and Brgyn. John had a long and successful career as a Detective Sergeant with the Waterloo Regional Police Force for 29 years. He enjoyed even more years in retirement with his family and friends. John served overseas in World War II as a Sergeant with the Canadian Armed Forces alongside his lifelong chum, Jack Garner. Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, March 30 from 2- 4 and 7 - 9. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 31 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service. Interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau.
