Obituary of Peter Steikow

Peacefully passed away surrounded by his large loving family on March 31, 2011 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the age of 61. Loving husband of Rita (nee Eckhardt). Cherished father of Stephanie (Curtis) Hoare, Vanessa (Karl) Borgmann, and Valerie (Wes) Hergott. Beloved Opa of Allegra and Briar Hoare and Lydia Hergott. Peter will be sadly missed by his siblings; Stephan (Renate) Schulze-Steikow, Ruth Bird Delbert Stowe, and Ines Piel and in-laws Sonya (Max) Doderer, Harold (Anne) Eckhardt, John (Sandie) Eckhardt, Wiera Raich and Ellen Eckhardt, as well as by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Angel and Helga, a sister in infancy and brothers-in-law John Raich, and Chris Bird. Peter immigrated to Canada at the age of 14. From humble beginnings he was able to establish a loving family and a wide circle of friends. He ministered in the New Apostolic Church for over 30 years and co-founded and owned Stybek Roofing. Peter will be lovingly remembered for his generosity, determination, sense of humour, and steadfast loyalty.
