Obituary of Michael Hanek

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Hanek on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at St. Mary's General Hospital age 81 years. A member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kitchener and a retired 38 year employee of Seagrams Distillery. Loving husband of Katharine (Emrich). Dear father of Gerlinde Laurin (Gaetan), Richard Hanek, Eric Hanek and Elizabeth Peters (Andrew) all of Kitchener. Will be sadly missed by grandchildren Kirk (Tara Lane), Nicole (Steve Ward), Scott, Aaron, Benjamin and Derek. Sadly missed by sisters Maria Koeller, Sophia Haltrich (George) and sister-in-law Maria Hanek all of Germany. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Maria Hanek, brothers Johann and Mathias. Mr. Hanek's family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. The memorial service to celebrate his life and faith will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 4 p.m. Rev. Mark Ehlebracht officiating.
