Wednesday, May 4, 2011
On behalf of many friends from PHE Canada, we would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Waynes' family and friends. Wayne was the President of our association from 1985-86 and a long time contributor to our association. We are grateful for the opportunity to see Wayne last October in Toronto at our last conference. He looked well and he looked happy. We hope that your memories and knowing all of the wonderful things Wayne did for so many people bring you comfort at this difficult time.

Dear Mrs. Somerville: Please accept my deepest sympathy in the sudden loss of your husband. My mom actually called me to let me know about this sad news, which I'm grateful for. You have been such an inspiration in my life (my Kindergarten teacher and your student helper in class for many years at Forest Glen Public School), the least I can do is send my love, support, and prayers to you during this very difficult time in your life. From the other condolences listed, it certainly sounds like you and your family are surrounded by close friends and family at this time. Please accept my sympathy, and feel free to contact me in the future so we can do some catching up over the last 20+ years! My deepest sympathy to you and your family, Cindy Zettas (Richardson)

John Howard Society of Waterloo-Wellington posted a condolence
Thursday, April 28, 2011
Dear Somerville Family: Please accept our deepest sympathy during this time of loss. Wayne assisted John Howard Society with the purchase of two properties over the years, one in Kitchener and one in Cambridge. He was so generous with his time and expertise, acknowledging John Howard Society as a non-profit, and appreciating the work that we do. He always had a great smile, and always took the time to chat with staff whenever he was around. Here's to a fine gentleman!

My thoughts and prayers are with the Somerville family as they gather strength through the many messages of thanks for the positive effect that Wayne has had in this community. I had the pleasure of working with both Wayne and Bob. Wayne's willingness to share his many gifts and time, continues to be reflected in the honour with which we remember him now.

We were surprised and saddened to learn of Wayne's death. I have many many memories of Wayne's personal and public contributions. When I arrived in Waterloo County, he was Mr. Phys. Ed. His contributions to the programming and welfare of staff and students is legendary! Then there is Wayne the person - I can still hear his laugh, usually with an impish twinkle in his eye. You will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you! Lovingly, Bobbie and Doug Brown
