My most sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Glebe on his recent passing. He was indeed a wonderful teacher and a tribute to WLU. I was one of his R&C students off campus and was fortunate to have Dr. Glebe for two courses at the Barrie site. By coincidence I learned of his passing. God bless his family. Greta Horton, Collingwood.

I remember Dr. Glebe fondly as he was one of my R&C profs in the early 70's. He was a great teacher and very fine man. My condolences to your family.

My sincere condolences to Delton's wife, Verna, and their family. When I think of Delton, words come immediately to mind that describe him: kind, compassionate, wise, humble, patient, positive, optimistic, gentle, understanding, fun, enthusiastic. He was openminded, and one's opinion always mattered to him. Delton was my most influential teacher/professor of all time, and was my ordination sponsor in 1976. He was the sort of individual who, in getting to know him, inspired one to "go forth and be likewise". Delton will be missed on earth, but Oh, how much more will heaven now be enriched. I look forward to talking to him in the next life. with blessings, Ken Gies, WLS grad 1972

For Diane and I, Dr. Glebe held a special place in our memories. In 1976 when we decided to marry, and since we had both attended WLU, we approached Dr. Glebe and asked if he would perform the ceremony in the chapel at the seminary. We were thrilled when he agreed. Diane was 10 minutes late and I recall Dr. Glebe reassuring me that she had indeed arrived. When it came time for the ring, Dr. Glebe coached me "not to force it on" when it proved difficult. At the reception that evening it was time for speeches; we had asked Dr. Glebe to say a few words. Ever the professional and believing in being prepared I recall overhearing him rehearsing what he wanted to say in the hallway out of earshot (or so he thought) of those in attendance. Since there were many people there from the Neustadt area (including my 85 year old grandparents who knew Dr. Glebe very well), his theme that evening was, for him, feeling "honoured and at home". Little did he know it was all of us present who were honoured by his comments, his presence and his contribution to the best day of two young peoples lives.

Dear Verna and Family:
I was saddened to hear of Delton's death. He was the first pastor that I met when I came to Canada in early 1970… And though it may interfere with his future canonization he was the reason that I became a Lutheran pastor. I had come up with my future wife to visit a fellow deaconess, Margaret Kreller. I had just left Maryknoll Seminary. As we passed the Seminary, I was told it was the same denomination. I got out and walked in unannounced and without transcript and Delton welcomed me and accepted all my previous graduate credits on my word. He continued to support me throughout my seminary days and valued my contribution to some of his classes.
Delton and your family baptized Joan's and my children - Kristin at Mount Zion and John Aaron at Saint James.
He was a gentle and welcoming man of faith. I will remember him and value his ongoing support. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I was one of Dr. Glebe's students from 1967, to 1971. He was my favorite professor at the seminary. He was interested in sharing his course material, and he was very humble. I could always talk to him about any problem that I encountered. Dr. Glebe would be a person who lived in the hope of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I will miss him with much fondness and respect. I know you will rest in true peace, Delton. Thanks for being a great spiritual influence on my life.

Dear Verna & family I have so many fond memories when I was a little girl living in Neustadt but being your flower girl was so very special to me. I still wear the ring that Delton and you gave me for this special occasion. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding be with each of you at this time. With Love Karen and Ed xoxo
