My symphathy to family and friends of Ken Wightman. I am writing to find someone in the Wightman family who has done genealogy. I was told that our family history goes back to 1634 when we came on a ship to this country. -Bob Wightman Santa Barbara

I have many happy memories of my big brother ken as a teenager he was my chaperone when my dad couldn’t be ,he used to take me dancing and even to the swimming baths ,didn’t mind that so much when all his rugby mates were there .One sad memory was when I wanted to go to the dance in the city of course I could not go without Ken only thing was he was going on his motor bike [ not good for my new bouffant hair do ,anyway off we went and had a good night only a boy wanted to bring me home on the bus ,the rule was I must come home with Ken, we made a plan that I would wait at the bus stop at 11pm then Ken would pick me up well I waited in the dark for 30 mins then walked home thinking he must have gone straight there , boy did I get in trouble no idea where ken was .must have been around 2am when the police came to tell us ken was in hospital a drunk had stepped out in front of his bike ,mam and I went to see him , he was flat on the bed covered in a white sheet the nurses had to take me away to calm down ,I was in shock I thought he was dead ,he had a broken jaw and busted ankle , that was the start of all his foot problems ,it never did heal properly which contributed to his discharge from the army, he was in hospital a long time so I had to go to dances with my dad. Love you brother and always willxxxx

Mark, Dave, Dad, and I took dad out for a St Patrick's day celebration at Ethel's pub on King St. We drank a few pints and some were green. I bought about 4 rounds of Jack Daniels whiskey. Dad could never say no to something new. We were only there about 2 hours. Mark and Dave left and Caren came to pick up dad and I. He took one step out the door and fell like a ton of bricks. It was a sunny day and there were many people outside smoking. I went to help dad and there must have been 10 smokers come rushing to our help. They all asked"are you OK"? Dad simply smiled and said he and his buddy Jack were just fine. The drive home was fun. All dad kept talking about was his buddy Brian or Jack... Whatever his name was.

Dad, Dillan, and I were sitting around the campfire in Grand Bend roastind hotdogs after a long day at the beach. Dad put a hotdog on his stick and said to Dillan, "i'm going to roast me weiner". Dillan and I still laugh at him to this day. We had many good times at the beach and around a campfire. Dad loved the simple things in life. Love ya Dad. I will miss you forever!
