After a long and full life Jim passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on June 2, 2011 in his 92nd year.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife Dana and children Paul (Dale), Jamie (Susie), Sally Mealing (Ted) and Kit Cameron (Ian), twelve grandchildren, sister Peggy Joyce (Bill), sister-in-law, Daintry Snyder, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers, Paul and John, sister Joan Robertson, daughter Anne and grandson Jeffrey.

In 1940, Jim won two Canadian badminton championships, singles and doubles, teamed with his brother Paul. While at Trinity, he joined the RCAF and served as a Squadron Leader in WWII and was decorated with the Air Force Cross. He married Dana Duthie in 1948 and together they raised five children. Jim ran a successful furniture manufacturing business, Snyder's Ltd., for over 45 years. He also found time to devote to community charitable activities and his beloved golf game. Jim was a charter member at Westmount Golf and Country Club since 1931 and a member of Seabrook Island, South Carolina.
