Obituary of Ernest Hachborn

Ernest Hachborn of Conestogo passed away, peacefully, in the afternoon of Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Honor Hachborn for 57 years and loving father of Andrew Hachborn (wife Karen) and Malcolm Hachborn (wife Frances). Grandfather of Filipe, Eryc, Danielle, Ellen, Nicole, Amanda, and Gillian. Also survived by his sister, Gladys Price of Waterloo, nieces and nephews Diana Whinney, Giles Brackley, Diann Lutz, Debra Rank, Cameron Price and their families. Mr. Hachborn was born in Fraserburgh, Scotland on December 28, 1925 to parents Henry George and Margaret (nee Anderson) Hachborn of Conestogo. Ernest obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Queen's University, Kingston (1948) and his Master of Civil Engineering from Cornell (1950). Mr. Hachborn began his career serving as Deputy City Engineer for the City of Kitchener. Later, as a partner, he co-founded McCargar Hachborn Limited which became The Walter Fedy Partnership. Visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, June 9 from 7 - 9 p.m. and on Friday, June 10 from 1 - 1:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m., Friday. A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment will be held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery, Conestogo following cremation.
