Obituary of Lydia Rand

Peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Freeport Hospital at the age of 59. After a courageous battle with brain cancer Lydia is now with her Heavenly Father. Loving wife and best friend of 32 years to Alan. Beloved mother to L. Rebecca Harrold (Greg) Nicholas, Emily Zehr (Nathaniel), and Bethany Hunsberger (Derek). Oma to Vesper and Corabelle Harrold. Lydia is survived by her mother Eleonore Klassen, father-in-law Thomas Rand and predeceased by her father Jacob Klassen and mother-in-law Joanne Rand. Lydia was the eldest of seven children and is fondly remembered by her siblings Elizabeth, Katharina, Eleonore, Wilhelm, Karl and Heinz, along with her brother and sister in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Lydia was a talented musician who played the piano, guitar and was known for her beautiful alto voice. She loved nature and spent countless hours in her gardens. Family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, June 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. South, Waterloo. A celebration of Lydia's life will be held on Sunday, June 26 at 3:00pm, with a visitation an hour before the service at Faith Evangelical Missionary Church 3849 King St. East, Kitchener with Pastor Richard Kopanke officiating. Reception to follow in the church auditorium. Private interment Memory Gardens, Breslau.
