Obituary of Walter Bratherton

BRATHERTON, Walter 1924 - 2011 Walter passed away at Forest Heights Long-Term Care Centre on Monday, June 27, 2011 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Shirley, dear father of Bill Bratherton, Maryanne Metzger (Dennis) and Diana Dumbreck (Ross), and step-father of Hugh Johnston, Maureen Feeney and Willow Rolfe. Walter is lovingly remembered by grandchildren Riley and Ethen Metzger, Tina McAllister Kuchocki, Shawn McAllister, step-grandchildren Gareth Maddock, Daniel Steinman, Brandon and Tyler Johnston, and great-grandchildren Izaiah, Kayla and Mariska. Walter is fondly remembered by his cousins in England. Predeceased by his first wife Doretta, parents Horace and Lily Bratherton, and brothers Horace and John Brotherton. Walter served overseas in the Second World War as a gunner in the G.G.H.G. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 530 Waterloo, a member of the Soar Chapter 80, and a member of the Waterloo Regional Union Retirees. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Walter during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, June 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Memorial Legion Service will be held at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the funeral home with interment following at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
