My sympathies to both of you Lynne and Carey and to your families. I knew your mom and dad when I worked at the OMAFRA office in Markdale. In 1996 I ended up working in Chatham ...not a great situation for our family. When your mom found out she was quick to phone and invite me to stay at their place if I needed I place to "hang my hat". In Sept that year I took her up on that and stayed overnight off and on for the next 4 months. ..it was not an easy time for them as it was when Ridgetown College was being transferred to the U of G and your dad was going thru all the hassles again. I appreciated their kindness and friendship because it was not easy for me then either. I remember your mom as a very determined person who was not going to let anything keep her down. Through Bark K. I was kept up to date on her activities and moves and was glad she was able to do what she did in these last years. I wish you good memories and am thinking of you today........Denise

On one of our cruises to the Caribbean, Moxie wanted to spend the day tearing around the island on an ATV( a driver was provided for her). None of us were crazy enough to want to go with her, so off she want, all on her own to spend the day the way SHE wanted. When she arrived back on the ship, barely in time to wash the mud off, and sit down to a formal dinner, I don't think that I had ever seen a wider grin on her face. It was the first time that she had ventured off on her own since Art's death, and she said, "now I know that I can do it...I can be independent, and on my own, with nobody to watch over me." And from that day on, that was the life she lived. She never thought of herself as sight-impared, only height-impared. Good-bye my friend!!!

When I heard of Moxie's passing, I immediately thought of this poem by Bishop Brent, and wanted to pass it on to Lynne and Carrie, and families... WHAT IS DYING? A ship sails and I stand watching till she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says, "she is gone." Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all; she is just as large as when I saw her. The diminished size, and total loss of sight is in me, not in her, and just at the moment when someone at my side says "she is gone," there are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up a glad shout. "There she comes!" and that is dying. Bishop Brent
