Chris, words cannot convey the sadness felt by Karen’s passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family during this difficult time. Your love and support for Karen meant the world to her and she loved you deeply. My condolences go out to Steed as well who stayed by Karen’s side throughout. Karen left her mark in the lives of those who knew her. Karen always lived life to the fullest. Her zest for life was noticed by all who crossed her path. Karen’s determination and will inspired everyone who knew her and knew of her battle. Karen had the spirit and heart of a warrior. At her core, she was a fierce fighter. While others less resilient would have given up, Karen soldiered on. Her “never quit” attitude, with the support of her family and friends, carried her through. I was amazed by her strength, her courage; in awe of her unshakable optimism, faith, and belief - even in the face of the most incredible adversity. I will remember Karen as a beautiful warrior goddess who fought valiantly. Karen was not only loved by her family, she was loved and adored by all her friends. She is being missed greatly...but her spirit will live on forever in the hearts and minds of everyone whose lives she touched.

It's been a week since you've passed and still can't believe it. I've thought to call you so many times and then remind myself that I no longer can. I miss you so much friend. I will forever remember the photo shoots on your lawn when we were 15, dancing at Sparkles, and most recently our lunch downtown and trip to homesense where you chose the "Karen ornament" for my tree. I will cherish each and every one of those moments we had together. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Chistine, during this time and all the rough spots ahead. Karen certianly loved her big sis and her nephews very much. I take a great deal of pride in knowing that I played a role in Karen and Steed's love connection, she was crazy about you steed, she cared and loved you deeply. I will see you one day up there in heaven with Lucas and Moo Moo, until then my friend....

I knew Karen for a short time, I am a mortgage broker in BC that dealt with Karen for about 6 months. The one time I came to Toronto for a conference, Karen and her workmates took me out to show me the town. She made a huge impact on me, and several times over the years we talked and kept in touch. Karen was a special person who was not afraid to share her feelings, her friendhip and her soul. I believe she lives within each one of us. My condolences to Christine and her nephews who loved her deeply and whom she loved and cherished. She would talk about you always and you always felt that you were part of that part of her life without being there. Christine, she loved you unconditionally and would always tell me that her life would be incomplete without you and that to cherish my own sister as there is no love greater. Family is not about quantity , it is about love and sharing. She loved her mother and missed her terribly and now she is reunited with her and now you have all of these angels looking after you, Mitchell and Tanner. I will miss Karen as I have known her for 27 years and there will be a big hole in my heart but as my son said to me the other day " why are you crying mom, karen is loved by God and is not sick anymore". Karen was a good friend and I will love her and will always cherish the times together and learn from the lessons she has brought to us about life and living each day. Daryl.
