Obituary of Suzanne Joan Hardy

Joan Hardy (nee Franklin) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Innisfree House, Kitchener on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the age of 62, from complications arising from head trauma sustained July 1, 2016. Beloved daughter of Anna Franklin and the late Larry Franklin. Joan will be sadly missed by her loving spouse Lawrence (Larry) Hardy, cherished daughters Lindsay and Rebecca Hardy, and precious grandchildren Michael and Harlynn (Lindsay's children). Warmest memories of love shared will remain with sisters Leslie (Ken) Sim, Carol (Dan) Scott, brother-in-law Bill (Lynda) Hardy of British Columbia, sister-in- law Susan Reiger of Australia, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends throughout Canada. Joan spent her early years in British Columbia, later moving with her husband and family to Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. She was a true friend and compassionate person through her everyday life and during her career as an Educational Assistant (retired) with the Waterloo Region District School Board. A woman with quick wit and a bright smile, she was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. For many years, she was an active volunteer with K-W Oktoberfest, juvenile sports coach and supporter. Joan's gift of being an extraordinary listener helped many she heartened throughout her life. Joan's Celebration of Life will be held locally in the next few weeks; details will be dispersed by email. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington or the K-W Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
