Obituary of William George Carey

CAREY, William “Bill” George A resident of Beechwood Manor in Waterloo, Bill passed away peacefully, with his children at his side, at Lisaard House Hospice, on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the age of 96. Bill is survived by his loving daughter, Colleen Dietrich and husband Wayne; son, Keith Carey and wife Christine; grandchildren, Tammy-Lynn Wallace (Rob), Meaghan Carey, Jessica-Lynne Carey, Kyle Carey; and great-granddaughters, Alexis and Ashley. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Alice (nee Hammer) in 1998; his granddaughter, Michelle Marie Dietrich in 1989; sisters, Marie Kurt, Margaret Diebold, Eda Schlueter; and brothers, George, Jim, Olie, Jerome, and Herb. Bill was always concerned about others and put others first. His passions in life were family, cards, hunting, fishing, farming, and Wasaga Beach. He retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a long-time member of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Waterloo. Bill’s family extends a special thank you to Beechwood Manor, the C.C.A.C., and ParaMed for their exceptional care. The Carey family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St., Waterloo on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall. Cremation will take place and a private family interment will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.
