Obituary of Anna Petkovic

Of Kitchener, passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Home on Friday, February 3, 2017 at age 91. Loving mother of Angela Parker and husband Bruce of New Dundee, and Mike and his wife Holley of Moorefield. Nana to Jesse and Christine Parker and Kyle and Jenna Petkovic. Sister of Philipp Mergl and his wife Maria of Goderich. Predeceased by her beloved husband Radovan (Rade) Petkovic (1998) and parents John and Anna Mergl. Anna was born in Yugoslavia in 1925 and migrated during the war years through Germany and Austria. It was in England where she met and married Rade. In 1952, Anna and Rade immigrated to Canada and settled in New Hamburg. They moved to Moorefield in 1963 and farmed together until retirement, enjoying travelling and winters spent in Florida. Anna enjoyed cooking and gardening and loved the family get-togethers with her grandchildren and great-granddogs Higgins and Digger. Anna was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Parish, Waterloo and the Schwaben Club. Although we can no longer celebrate happy occasions in person with her, she will always be fondly remembered by us all. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Sunnyside for their exemplary care given during her stay. Anna's family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 1:30 - 2:45 pm. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3 pm. A reception will then follow in the funeral home's Fireside Room. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener will be held at a later date.
