Sending my sincere condolences to all of Fran's dear family and friends.
Fran was a wonderful colleague of mine in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo, from 1980 to 1991. With a feisty manner, she challenged accepted wisdom to advance scientific knowledge. Fran was witty, fun, and insightful, with a mind like a steel trap. Many faculty, staff and students benefitted from FAA's teaching, research and supervision.
Godspeed Fran! Sending love and light...

I can still see Fran walking through the green spaces with ever-faithful Hoagy beside her. A special lady who knew how to cut through pomposity and put things in proper perspective. RIP Fran – we’ll miss you.

I knew Fran through her work with Phil Bryden, in the Psychology Dept. at the University of Waterloo back when I was a student. Fran's energy, intelligence and sunny disposition made it a pleasure to know her. She was one of those people who was a truly significant part of life at UW. She'll be missed.
My deepest sympathies to the Allard family and Fran's colleagues and friends.

Fran was my thesis advisor at Waterloo and a never ending source of energy, ideas and encouragement. Later on when I worked at the University, Fran became a friend and coworker whom I enjoyed working with tremendously. I was very saddened to hear that she had passed away so soon. Please know that she'll be remembered fondly by many students and friends here at Waterloo. My time there would not have been as rich or memorable without her influence. Rest in peace, Fran. I know you've earned it.

We will miss seeing Fran and Hoagie walking the neighbourhood. Fran was a fixture and part of the fabric of the Westmount area. She was not only our next door neighbour, she was a friend. Fran was always interested in all the happenings around our kids sports and school. She watched them jump on the trampoline, first bike rides, road hockey games, backyard rinks and was never to busy to have a long or quick on conversation.
One thing I will remember is to not worry about the small stuff, cherish the moments and enjoy life.

Prof Allard was my professor for a couple courses. She was one of the best I had during my time at Waterloo. Aside from someone who gave me really high marks, I'll remember her as a passionate and dedicated professor. We need more like her in universities. Thanks for everything!

We are sad to hear of Dr. Allard's passing because we are blessed to have grown our hearts, minds and senses of humour under her leadership. For over 20 years since the days of UW, we've peppered many a conversation with her name and the influence she had.
I met with a colleague just yesterday; and as I referenced Fitt's tapping task in loose association to a cognitive assessment tool, I thought warmly of Fran. At a conference in January, in Tucson, other UW grads spoke warmly of her. And yes, the illustrative and engaging "sounds" in the classroom were mentioned.
Fran's warmth and example gave me the ability to take myself less seriously, and work more comfortably at the limits of my abilities as a student. I make a point of sharing that with my kids because of her. We'll treasure her memory.
With deep condolences to her Family and all who feel her loss,
Matt & Alison (Smith) Metcalfe

Sad to here the passing of Fran. She was an incredible person, the best professor I ever had in my many years as a student at three different universities, and an inspiration to her students. It was a privilege to know her and condolences to her family.

Fran was my professor during my undergraduate studies. We fondly referred to her as "Fran" instead of "Dr. Allard" or "Allard". Fran was an exceptional professor with top-notch teaching abilities and served as an inspiration to her fellow colleagues and students who ultimately taught during the course of their careers.

Fran was my friend and teammate during our years as undergrads at the University of Waterloo. We were roommates in our third year, in an apartment on Erb Street, before taking our Phys Ed degrees in 4th year. I am so sorry to hear of her sudden passing. I well remember Fran's intelligence and sense of humour. She was a wonderful athlete with a brilliant mind and a wry wit. My sympathies to her family.
