I just read of Ralph's passing in the recent issue of the Canadian Mennonite. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you now begin the journey alone. I will be
walking with you as this journey is forever. May you experience the comfort of knowing that family and friends are walking with you, while God is guiding you with his hand on your shoulder.
Ralph was such a huge influence on our lives. I know how well Ralph and Erick connected and so enjoyed each other. Ralph's influence shaped Erick's vocation.
Ralph was a man of so much energy with a great love for doing Kingdom work.

I am so sorry we have now lost this treasure of a man! His smile and easy laughter, his personal courage and strength as he lived with leukemia, his engagement with and love for people all around him, his humility, his constant seeking of knowledge, his role as former President of Conrad Grebel University College – all of this has helped define him as a true leader in 'how to be human!' We will greatly miss him. Condolences to Eileen, and to each of the children and their families.

I had the good fortune and great privilege to have Ralph as a mentor and colleague at Valleyview from 1969 and through the ‘70s. His wisdom, graciousness and sensitivity, humour and dedication, creativity and optimism, practicality and vision were wonderful gifts with lasting impacts on my life and ministry. I am deeply grateful for the place he has had in my life. I pray that Eileen and his family may be comforted as we say farewell.

Ralph was a consistent encourager to me throughout my 30 year ministry at Hidden Acres. He was an empathetic listener in part because he never forgot the experience of his years as summer camp director at Hidden Acres.
He and Eileen were consistent in their support of and participation in many various camp activities.
He was always willing to listen well and share his wisdom and insight. His compassion for people and genuine interest in the ministry were always appreciated.
He will be greatly missed by the Hidden Acres community. I am thankful for his example, friendship and and the opportunity to have known him. As a tireless servant of God, he enters well deserved rest.

My deepest condolences to Eileen, Cindy, Marvin, Connie and their families.
I will greatly miss Ralph. He was my mentor and my friend. I will miss the lunches and great talks (chin wags as Ralph would call them) we would have together. We talked about everything from farming and our Mennonite heritage to world issues. He has given me a lot of insight about life and how to take a look at situations from different perspectives. And many years ago, in the middle of winter, he would help me boost my car so I could get home at night :)
I miss you Ralph.

Sad news; so sorry for your/our loss.
As a student at Grebel in a small group led by Ralph, 2 things he taught me come to mind: 1. We can always ask. 2. We can always say yes or no.
Thank you Ralph for you kind & gentle nature that was instrumental in leading Conrad Grebel during your years as President.

Eileen and family - Duane and I send our deepest condolences to all of you. There seem to be some people in your life that you think will be there forever and I saw Ralph as one of those people. I have memories of when you and Ralph were MYF sponsors and the fun times we had together with the 2 of you. Ralph married Duane and I and that stands out for me as does getting to see the two of you at the VS reunion some years back. We pray for comfort and peace.

Dear Eileen & family, Ralph was the minister at Valleyview when I came as a VS-er in 1971. He was always interested in our VS family, & what we were doing individually. His love & excitement for the wider church was very evident & inspiring.I will always fondly remember the twinkle in his eyes when he talked about the Church. My thoughts & prayers are with you during this time of loss & grief. May God bring healing. Sincerely, Beth P.S I don't think my husband Ken ever had the privilege to meet Ralph.
