This one's for you, Karen:
Hi, everyone. Again. It's been a year since Mom's service, and here we are. Again. And I'm delivering a eulogy. Again. I do not want to get good at this.
I can't actually get past the thought of being Karen-less. We are the "kids" - the "3 Little Rascals", and now we're short one.
Karen did leave her mark on this earth, as Cheryl is, and as I am - mine might be a little less glossy. But, I have more experience than Karen and Cheryl.
Karen was a great sister, daughter, mother, aunt, niece, cousin to us through the fun years - and a few turbulent ones. Lots of adventures, and misadventures. Especially the "get-togethers" we hosted on Hemlock St. when Mom was away on weekends on a bus tour. Oops! Sorry Mom, that was my outside voice...
John, Mike and Heather have their own treasure chest full of memories. We all have our own memories of Karen. Memories that we can hold in a special place in our hearts. We must remember the happier times. She will be a special star, in a special sky for each of us. And remember: that some day, all of us in this chapel will be a special star, in a special sky for someone.
A parting thought: please, don't wait like the movie, music, and entertainment industries do in inducting somebody into their hall of fame when they're deceased. Put them into your own "Hall of Fame" now - while they still live, and breathe, and walk among us... And tell them!
Miss you, Sis - Rest in Peace

Karen....
The time we spent together while visiting you in the hospital was such quality 'sister' time. The best day was when I did your nails and cut your hair and we chatted the entire afternoon away over cafe mochas. We never ran out of things to talk about! Some days I knew you were in pain and that broke my heart. I am so very thankful that Katelin and I were able to spend your last night together in your room, so we could be close to you. You will forever be my big sister, and I will always love and miss you. It is so difficult losing you, but I know that you and mom are together, watching over us.
All my love forever,
Cheryl
