Obituary of Barbara Lucille Creighton
Barbara Lucille Creighton (formerly of Kitchener, ON), was born on February 12, 1924 and passed away peacefully on January 13, 2018 at age 93. Barbara is remembered with great love by her six daughters and their husbands: Anne Read (Duncan) of Oshawa, ON; Margaret Gruber (Klaus) of Saskatoon SK and Vancouver, BC; Adrienne Creighton of Edmonton, AB (predeceased by Gerry Lacombe), Deborah Younes (Father Iskander) of Richmond Hill, ON; Jacqueline Wall (Paul) of Kitchener, ON; and Patricia Creighton (Peter Allen) of Halifax, NS.
She is predeceased by her husband John David Creighton and baby son David, her parents Margaret and Sidney Marwood, her sisters Helen and Kathleen and brother John, and remembered by her remaining sister Joyce, and her 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Quebec, Michigan, California and Mexico.
Her life centered around her children, her husband, and her great passion for classical music, piano and opera. She was an active and respected piano teacher, training students for more than 40 years in Kitchener-Waterloo ON, volunteering for the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association, and coordinating the Royal Conservatory of Music exams. Barbara loved a good joke, gardening, swimming, badminton, walking, reading, crocheting, eating and sitting outdoors.
At age 85, Barbara moved west to live with Margaret and Klaus for 9 years, then spent 4 months in Central Haven Special Care Home in Saskatoon, then her final 4 months at Chartwell Special Care Home, Aurora ON. The family is grateful to these two facilities for the excellent care they gave Barbara.
Funeral arrangements by the Erb & Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. N., Waterloo, ON, 519-745-8445 (visitation on Friday January 19 from 7:00-9:00 pm). Barbara's funeral and reception will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday January 20, 2018 at The Church of the Holy Saviour Anglican Church, 33 Allen St. E., Waterloo, ON.
